Division Street Survey Underway

For those noticing Division Street being marked and busy with survey teams, here’s an update from Division/Clinton Business Association’s Jean Baker and Community Outreach Specialist for the project Rhetta Drennan:

All of the green, blue, and orange marks spray painted on Division Street are part of the work survey crews are doing to measure and mark underground utilities. The survey is for two projects collaborating together through our neighborhood — Bureau of Environmental Services’ Tabor to the River Project & Bureau of Transportation’s Division Streetscape and Reconstruction Project. All the design and construction will be done together.

“I know the utility location markings painted on the street can cause alarm, thinking construction will soon occur but that is still more than a year off,” writes Drennan in an email to neighbors.

Location marking will happen several times during the design and construction phase of a project. Design is currently scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2011, with construction beginning in early 2012.

The mounds of gravel and big machines at the former site of Kim’s Auto on 28th and Division is part of the work and equipment BES is using to build bioswales on Harrison and Tibbets Streets.

On the horizon, in February, Drennan reminds neighbors to be looking for information on an open house. This will be your first opportunity to see details on what the design team is planning. There will be other open houses to follow as the design moves closer to completion.
