Water Main Replacement on SE Brooklyn

The Portland Water Bureau will be installing approximately 280 feet of eight‐inch diameter water main pipe, of which130 feet will be inside a 24‐inch diameter casing pipe on Southeast Brooklyn Street between Southeast Gideon Street and Southeast 16th Avenue. The eight‐inch ductile iron main will replace an existing eight‐inch castiron main.

Preliminary work has begun, and the trench excavation and pipe installation will begin in sometime in July, early August 2013.

The work is anticipated and last approximately two‐four weeks. Work hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Southeast Brooklyn Street will be closed to through traffic but open for local access and business access only for the last week of the construction.

The main replacement project will impact the street art drawing project, as the trench will cut across the intersection of Southeast Brooklyn Street and Southeast 16th Avenue in two places so that the pipe can be connected to the existing watermains.
