Grab your warmest coat and hat, it’s time for a brisk winter walk!
The Safer Routes to School Program will be leading a walk down Peacock Lane this Sunday. Peacock Lane, the Sunnyside neighborhood street known for its festive holiday lights, has been clogged with evening spectators (and their cars) every winter since the tradition began in the 1920s. This year, for the first time ever, the residents of Peacock Lane are closing the street down to car traffic for one day and inviting the public appreciate their lights by foot or by bike.
The walk will be short with an optional jaunt through nearby Laurelhurst Park.
Please, consider walking, biking, or taking Trimet. The Belmont Library is on bus lines 14, 15, 66, 74, and 75 and sits on the corner of the SE Taylor bike boulevard.
