Please come to this Tuesday’s general neighborhood meeting and let us know what you want HAND to look like in 5 or 10 years. Especially the Hawthorne and Division corridors. Do you want more density and development? Thriving businesses? Is easy parking a priority? Sustainable buildings? Bikes? We know there will be changes resulting from the Max and the streetcar and currently planned development. And we know that the City has put in a lot of work thinking about what our sort of neighborhood might want and where we’re heading. But there’s a lot of room for us to create our own vision. Matt Wickstrom, our liason from the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability will be here to help us create that vision. But we need your voice. Please consider coming to share your thoughts, even if you never plan on attending another meeting again. We need to hear from you.

The Future of HAND – A Neighborhood Discussion
Featuring Matt Wickstrom -our guy from the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability
1. Brief overview of key concepts from Portland Plan. You’ll get handouts of the Vibrant Neighborhood Centers pages, the Five Portland’s map and the Healthy Connected City Network diagram. This is the city’s general vision for our future.
2. Overview of the 8 Policy Expert Groups for the Comprehensive Plan Update, how to participate and how policy relates to implementation (i.e. zoning or development standards).
3. We’ll have an open discussion of what we want our neighborhood to look like in 5 or 10 years. Do we care about parking, density, traffic, bustling business, green building, industrial spaces, green spaces? Etc. With every policy priority, there’s a tradeoff. What tradeoffs do we want to make and what priorities do we want to emphasize. We need your voice.
