The Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project is applying for a City of Portland noise variance for construction where the alignment will be constructed in southeast Portland.
Normal construction hours are Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The variance would allow night and/or Sunday work in areas where it’s critical to minimize the duration of major traffic impacts, including:
–Three weekends round-the-clock for railroad crossings (one each for 8th, 11th and 12th avenues). Each crossing would be fully closed during this work (one at a time).
–Two weekends round-the clock for the new structures at Powell & 17th Ave. Powell would be fully closed during this work.
–About two weeks of nights, with weekends round-the-clock, for retaining walls under the new Powell structures. Lanes on Powell would be closed during this work.
A public hearing will take place before the City of Portland’s Noise Review Board:
Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 6 p.m.
