RAIN PLAN:
As you may know, rain is predicted to fall at some point tomorrow, maybe including in the morning. A decision will be made at 8:20 a.m. regarding how we will run the Tour de Ladd, based on conditions. If it is too wet to ride, we are going to have the children walk/run the course.
Please join your neighbors for a new fundraiser for the Abernethy Elementary School Foundation.
Tour de Ladd
Friday, Oct. 3rd
9 a.m. – 12 noon
Abernethy students will ride and scoot in the Tour de Ladd. To ensure safety for the children during the event, the following streets will be closed from 9 a.m. – 12 noon on Friday, 10/3:
— Orange from Hickory to 16th/Tamarack
— Tamarack from Orange/16th to Hickory
— All of Hickory
— 16th between Hickory/Orange/Tamarack
Tour de Ladd helps us raise the money that funds music full time (vs 1/2 time funded by the district) and the librarian. The purpose of this email is to notifiy you of street closures during the event and to recruit for volunteers on the day of the event.
This event is co-sponsored by the City of Portland Safe Routes to School Program and the Bicycle Transportation Alliance. We’re also using this as an opportunity to round up used kids bikes for the Community Cycling Center, which works to enrich the lives of Portland families through bicycling, as well as an opportunity to encourage people to join the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.
Volunteers are needed for the morning of the event. There are many ways to help. If you’re interested, please contact Shannon Buchanan, at shannon@eroi.com.
