There have been several conversations recently about coordinating more conversations with businesses, neighbors and people passing through the area about better ways to handle bike traffic on the streets.
At this point, several people are ready to set up a bike plan workshop to talk about these issues.
When: Friday, September 4, from 10:30 a.m. to noon
Where: @Large Films, 807 NE Couch, Portland OR 97232 (thank you, Juliana!)The purpose of the workshop is to review the proposed bicycle facilities that are included in the draft Portland Bicycle Plan for 2030, with an eye to ensuring that the proposed routes and facilities best fit the need and context of the Central Eastside, while serving their intended public purposes.
I want to also let you know that the timeline for adoption of the Portland Bicycle Plan for 2030 has been extended. The hearing before Planning Commission is now scheduled for Tuesday, October 27. We expect to release the public review draft of the plan by September 25 at the latest, so there will be a full 30-day comment period.
Please let me know if you are planning to come to the Central Eastside bicycle plan workshop, so we can make sure to have enough materials on hand and give @Large Films an accurate idea of expected attendance. – Ellen
