Once again Buckman Pool is slated for closure as one of the proposed cuts to the Park Bureau’s budget and once again the community is circulating a petition to keep Buckman Pool open.

To sign the petition please go to — https://www.change.org/petitions/save-buckman-pool

Every signature will be transmitted as an e-mail to City Council and the Director of Parks.

Christine Yun from Buckman who organized the petition pointed out in an earlier message — “Parks is proposing to close Buckman Pool, our only parks facility in inner Southeast with programming for both genders and all ages (Laurelhurst Dance Center is the other facility). The city has committed in the past to keeping the pool open until Washington High Community Center is built. Closing the pool is an act of inequity against this parks-deficient section of Portland.”

Remember there is a City Budget Forum tonight (3/21) just “up the street” at Cleveland High School. This will be another opportunity to speak or leave written comments regarding the Buckman Pool and other budget issues.
