Sierra Club’s Oregon Chapter Offices
1821 SE Ankeny (in the Buckman neighborhood)

This is their second annual “Sierra Club Shindig.” Last year they restyled the event in a way that embraces the Sierra Club’s volunteer and activist culture. “Instead of a costly, formal annual dinner, we now throw what is essentially a neighborhood block party and BBQ at our office in Portland. We’ve found this model to be much more accessible to our members, affords us a better opportunity to educate the public about our work in Oregon, and it has proven to be a fun and successful volunteer appreciation and fundraising event,” says organizer Russ Rotondi.

This year, national Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune and Portland Mayor Sam Adams will be guest speakers. There will also be great food, beer and wine, kid’s activities, volunteer awards, opportunities to learn more about the Sierra Club’s work in Oregon, and even a performance by the band “Sound Semantics.”
