8th Ave rail crossing and Division Pl remain closed

Although the rail crossing at 8th Ave was scheduled to open this week, crews are now working to repair an unrelated waterline break in the intersection of 8th Ave and Division Place. Some of the repairs may take place at night. More information. This intersection and the rail crossing will remain closed until the repairs are completed and the new traffic signals are activated. Local access to businesses remains open, but through traffic in this area should use Woodward Street and 6th Avenue. Detour routes to Grand Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard or SE 11th Avenue remain available.

17th/Powell overpass opens September 1

On Sunday, September 1, northbound 17th Ave reopens onto westbound Powell Boulevard, with new, wide sidewalks for cyclists and pedestrians. The sidewalk on the north side of Powell under the overpasses will also open, with a new connection to 19th Ave. Bus lines 17 and 70 will return to their regular routes. The south sidewalk will open later this fall. Looking ahead, the off-ramp from eastbound Powell onto southbound 17th Ave will be closed for about two weeks this fall.

Night and weekend work at 17th/Powell overpass – weekend of August 16

To accelerate construction on the 17th/Powell overpass approaches, crews will work 24 hours a day starting Friday, August 16. Work is expected to return to normal hours (Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) on Monday, August 19. A few more nights’ work will be scheduled later this fall when crews remove the protective decking on the underside of the overpass.

McLoughlin Boulevard closed in Milwaukie – weekend of August 16

McLoughlin Blvd/Hwy 99E will be closed between SE Washington Street and SE River Road in Milwaukie from 10 p.m. Friday, August 16 to 5 a.m. Monday, August 19. Construction crews will work 24 hours a day to place large steel girders over McLoughlin Blvd/Hwy 99E in order to create the bridge that will carry light rail from downtown Milwaukie, over Kellogg Lake and to the west side of McLoughlin Blvd/Hwy 99E. Expect delays at 17th & Holgate – ongoing

Civil construction is underway at the 17th & Holgate intersection, with traffic controlled by flaggers during off-peak commute hours for about two weeks. Intermittent lane closures will continue for several weeks, with 24-hour track crossing construction scheduled for mid-September.
