The organizer for the Southeast Portland Tool Library, Steve Couche, spoke at HAND’s monthly board meeting this week to announce they are close to finalizing a location for the Southeast Portland Tool Library. It will likely be housed at St. David’s Episcopal Church on SE 28th & Harrison, and serve all of the neighborhoods in the Southeast Uplift coalition.

Mr. Couche handed out brochures about the library. Below is some of the information included in the hand out:

What is a Tool Library?

Tool libraries are just like traditional libraries, but with tools instead of books. They are great for people who cant/don’t want to buy/rent tools they are only going to use once in a while.

The Southeast Portland Tool Library (SEPTL) is planning to be a neighborhood tool library. We will lend out free of charge an ever-growing inventory of home-repair and gardening tools to Southeast Uplift coalition area residents and community groups.

Join the Library – It’s FREE!
You can sign up to borrow tools for free from the SEPTL if you are 18 or older and reside within the boundaries of the Southeast Uplift Coalition area.

(a website and more information about the tool library’s location is expected)

How You Can Help

The Southeast Portland Tool Library is a grassroots, volunteer-run organization with ambitious goals and limited means. Invest in your community and help us grow to better serve our neighbors by donating your tools, time and talents.

Cash and tool donations are tax-deductible through our sponsoring agency, Southeast Uplift. We need tool-savvy volunteers to maintain our tools and assist borrowers during open hours, as well as creative and professional types to help with marketing, web work and grant writing.
